Dear member,

Today we look at the word "kraisis" a word that is not found in Father Mihalics dictionary because it only came into popular use in the 1990s.

The World Banks economic advisors impressed this word into common use in Papua New Guinea through its drive at  political influence over Papua New Guinea's self determination during the so called "Bougainville Crisis" and the "Economic Crisis" where the world bank started to dictate the economic and political desitny of Papua New Guinea through the "Structural Adjustment Programme" (SAP). SAP programmes are spin doctored in the media using key words that strike fear into the public and give them the impression that they are no longer in control of their well being and destiny.  "Crisis" is one of these slogans that are designed to drive "shock and awe" into the public.

In the 1990s,

We had the "Bougainville Crisis" we had waves of  "Economic Crises"
and there after we had various waves of "Constitutional Crises" which were being echoed all over the Pacific including the Solomon Islands and Fiji.

"Crisis" simply means a moment of tension and lack of clarity about decisions and the determination of a clear path.

It is very difficult to convince a whole country of self determining people how to give up control of their nation and surrender control to outside corporate and banking interests. Therefore, it is necessary to shock the population into extreme fear by using key words that deny the population any confidence in self determination and nation building. Thus a word like "crisis" is instilled into our psychology and every day terminology even if all our people do not understand the meaning of the word.
